Obviously, there was little basis for all this speculation. "Wait, so Ky is a crooked cop wearing blue and white, and decorated in holy vestments from top to bottom? He's a bad guy, chasing the "good" guy? And he's failing, despite exercising professed holy righteousness? Does his lighting come from God himself? What's that say about God?" "Wait, so the guy named 'Badguy' is the good guy (my assumption was that his name was so on-the-nose it had to be ironic)? And he's wearing Red and transforms into a devil? Signifiers we consider 'evil' in the western world?" In my head cannon it was an interesting subversion of the Ken/Ryu dynamic. When I was first introduced to the Sol/Ky dynamic I thought it was interesting as fuck. So what did you all think of the Xrd's story, Era? I just hope that they do a better job at plot pacing because it all seems interesting, but it never actually shows anything to deem it as such. They also did a good job adding in more and more of this material with each following iteration, and am excited to see more of the crew in the next game. It's also pretty hilarious too, it's not just dumb jokes either, they all feel really personalized and they all hit the mark. Everyone is really likeable and the interactions that the cast has amongst one another are really enjoyable. I do want to give it some praise in the character department though.
It also introduced a lot of new people and concepts, and in the process bringing up more unfinished plot lines. There's at least a bit more plot development this time around, but it's still pretty minimal. However, it still follows the same issue as Sign where the story is pretty much idle conversation in a room for the first four hours of it and then finally some action in the last 15 to 30 minutes, with again, there being no fights. Still followed a visual novel-esque format in that it had the text bubbles like the image above though, I'd put a picture but honestly everything in this story mode to me sort of comes across as spoilers. There were a lot more dynamic scenes, with more animation and movement amongst the characters, and no longer it being in the same format as what's seen above. Revelator did a somewhat better job in managing the story.
